Sister Charlene Cooper Burse was born December 4, 1957 in Waycross, Georgia. She was born to the late Logan Charles and Anna Mae Cooper and was a life-long resident of the city.
She was a long time and faithful member of First Antioch Baptist Church of Waycross and attended Waycross High School, graduating with the Class of 1975. After high school Charlene attended South Georgia College in Douglas, GA where she earned a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse for many years until her retirement.
The sun set for Charlene on Sunday morning, July 25, 2021 after a brief illness.
Charlene leaves to cherish her memory a loving family comprised of her two sons Garrett Burse (Kristi) and Gavin Burse, both of Waycross. She also leaves three siblings, Wayne “Doc” Ellis of Waycross, Rose Cooper Glass of Atlanta, and Susan E. Cooper of Lawrenceville. She was a loving grandmother to Gavin Jr. and Gevon Burse, both of Waycross. She had a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and very special friends that will miss her tremendously.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 615 Knight Ave. with the church pastor, Rev. Raymond C. Williams officiating. Public visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, GA.
