Ms. Florence Devonne Reid

Sister Florence Devonne Reid was the oldest of three children born to Evelyn Spencer Reid and the late Lelon Reid. She was born April 27, 1954 in Waycross, Georgia. She received her formal education from the Waycross Public School System and graduated from Waycross High School in 1972.

Vonne, as she was affectionately known, joined St Peters Missionary Baptist Church, Waycross, Georgia at an early age and served faithfully in many missions including Kitchen Staff, Janitorial, Choir and youth mission.

She was an employee of Satilla Regional Medical Center for many years and later joined Scapa/Voith Inc. where she retired after twenty-two years of service.

Vonne was a dedicated, loving and caring person she never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand, She was well known throughout Waycross for helping others and putting herself last to help other. Her congenial character won a placed in the hearts of those privileged to have known her. She severed as Vice President of Walter’s Addition Community Club for more than eight years.

On Friday February 19, 2021 she departed his life in Memorial Satilla Health, Waycross after an illness. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a sister, Luvertia Faye Pender.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dwain Reid (Shriska); four grandchildren, Brittany Hargrett, Kristain Reid, Skye Reid, Kyndall Reid; a great grandchild, Jaylen Hargrett; her mother, Evelyn Reid; two sisters, Yvette Hollmon and Karen Reid; two brothers, Ken Reid and Kevin Reid; a special nephew, Kenyatta Reid; a dedicated and special brother-in-law, Darryl Pender; God mother, Mildred Porter; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, God children and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday February 26, 2021 in Oakland Cemetery with her pastor, Dr. Norris Woods, bringing words of comfort. Public visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fluker Funeral Home 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, Georgia.
