Our hearts were saddened when the life of Miss Shirley Ann Porter ended Friday, October 8, 2021, at Memorial Satilla Hospital in Waycross, Georgia. She was born in Hoboken, GA to the late Columbus Porter, Sr. and Mrs. Maxine Williams Porter on July 28, 1946. She was the second of eight children. She was educated in the public schools of Waycross, GA and a graduate of the Class of 1965 from the former Center High School.
At an early age she attended and affiliated with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She worked and retired from the previous Satilla Memorial Hospital after working over 40 years in the dietary department.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Columbus Porter, Jr.
She leaves to mourn her death, four brothers; Mr. John Wesley (Willierene) Porter, Mr. Johnnie Lee (Cora Lee) Porter, Sr., Mr. Ernest Leonard Porter, all of Waycross, GA and Mr. Kenneth Romel Porter of Grove Town, GA. Two sisters; Mrs. Bennie Mae P. Brown of Newberry, South Carolina and Mrs. Sheila P. Bailey of Byron, GA.
She helped raise these nieces and nephews in the home. Ms. Denise Porter, Mr. Johnnie Lee Porter, Jr. Mr. Mesiah (Shelonda) Porter, Sr., Mr. Deon Porter, Mrs. Tamela P. Washington, Ms. Anita Jones, Mr. Duke Alexander Porter, Mrs. Jennifer (Gregory) Speights, Ms. Laurine Porter, Mr. Demond (Shaquanna) Brown, Mr. Jamel Brown, Mr. DeShon (Nedra) Porter, Ms. Jamia Porter, Mr. Machion (Katrina) Porter and Ms. Alexis Porter.
Three devoted cousins; Mrs. Della Mae Cobb, Mr. Eddie Lee Davis, Mrs. Rebecca Lee Hall and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
