Pastor Willie Charles Whitfield, age 71, of Waynesville, Georgia, peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
A native and lifelong resident of Brantley County, Pastor Whitfield devoted his life to faith, family, and community. He was a man of great integrity, humility, and service, whose quiet strength and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Pastor Whitfield retired from Brantley Telephone Company after 42 years of loyal and dedicated service. His commitment to excellence and his leadership earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. He also served faithfully as a Board Member for Brantley County DFACS for 40 years, working tirelessly to support children and families throughout the community.
Answering the divine call to ministry, Pastor Whitfield became the beloved Pastor of Little Rock Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for 28 years. Under his guidance, the church grew spiritually and united in love. His sermons, filled with wisdom and compassion, touched hearts and inspired souls to draw closer to God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luchion and Katie Berrian, his sister, Edna Mae Mathis, and his daughter, Sgt. Bernadette Anita Cooper Whitsett.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mrs. Darlene Whitfield; his loving children, Maria Whitfield, Jonas Whitfield (Brandi), ShaRonda Whitfield, and Dee Whitfield; brothers, Willie James Whitfield (Elnora) and Walter B. Whitfield (Kim); and his treasured grandchildren, Janyah, Jayden, Miracle, Jonas II, Jayda, Jordan, Jonathin, and Jair. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends also mourn his passing and celebrate his life.
Please keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
