Sis. Katherine Raymond was born July 25, 1941 in Homerville (Clinch County), Georgia to the late Burton Raymond and Lucy Bell Morris Raymond.
”Doodar”, as she was affectionately known, grew up in Homerville where she received her formal education from the Homerville Public School System
She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and became a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church in Homerville. She worked as a domestic worker for several families in Clinch County before her retirement. She lived most of her life in Homerville before moving to Valdosta in recent years.
On Monday January 4, 2021 she departed this life at South Georgia medical Center in Valdosta after a brief illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children: Roger Taylor and Alfonso Cook; five siblings, Owen Horne, Paul Raymond, Albert Raymond, Bertha Thomas and Ethel Mae Carter.
The powerful impact of her life and legacy will always be remembered throughout the community.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Alma Jean Williamson (Clifford) of Homerville, Ga., Willie Raymond of Jacksonville, Fl., Eliza Taylor Chapel of Valdosta, Ga., Tony Taylor Sr. (Carrie) of Waycross, Ga. and john Taylor of Homerville, Ga.; step children, Rose Dennis of Warren Robins, Ga. and Patrica Bryant of Homerville, Ga.:Siblings,, Maime Jones of Plant City, Fl. and Jenny Ponde of Homerville, Ga.; fortyone grandchildren; a host of geat grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends include a special friend, Tammy Posley of Homerville, Ga.
A graveside service will be held Sunday January 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Pine Forest Cemetery, Lakeview Drive, Homerville, Ga. with Rev. Jaylen Thomas, pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church in Homerville, giving words of comfort.
