Mr. William Allen Baker Jr., age 73, of Savannah, GA, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at his residence after an illness.
He was born on October 28, 1946 in Savannah, Ga. to the late William Allen Baker Sr. and Naomi Wiggins Baker.He received his formal education from the Savannah Public School System and graduated from Beach High School and attended Savannah State College.He later joined the US Army where he advanced to the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharge in 1967 and again in 1976. Shortly after his last enlistment he was hired by the US Postal Service in Savannah as a Letter Carrier until he retired in 2002. He loved relaxing with his fellow co-workers after work, but most of all he loved hunting. He was a devoted husband, and attended First Bryan Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brother, Whitty Wiggins, Robert Baker and Melvin Baker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his compassionate and caring wife of thirty six years, Queenesta Marcus baker of Savannah,Ga,; two daughters, Andrea Baker of San Antonio, Tx. and Angie baker of Midway, Ga.; two sons, William Allen Baker lll of Raleigh, N.C. and Joseph Allen Baker of Savannah, Ga.; three grandchildren, Kendra Nicole Huffman of Meldrim, Ga., William Allen Baker lV of Chicago, Il and Aubree Kierrra Nicole Baker of Midway, Ga.; three brothers-in-law, Eddie Marcus (Linda), Ted Marcus (Donna) both of Jesup, Ga. and Billy Marcus (Juanita) of Jacksonville,Fl. ; two sisters-in-law, Gale Adams (Paul) of Ellenwood, Ca. and Rose Marcus of Jesup, Ga.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Baker Jr. will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Jonesville Baptist Church, located at 5201 Montgomery Street in Savannah, Ga with Rev. Hilmon Graves bring words of comfort. Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Fluker Funeral Home 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross, Ga.
